Making A Purchase
We accept payment by the credit and debit cards listed below: Visa, Mastercard, Eurocard, JCB, Delta, Maestro, Switch and Solo. If you are shopping from outside the United Kingdom your credit card company will automatically convert the transaction to your own currency on receipt. . Our transaction will be recorded on your bank statement under the heading: Robert Humm & Co Stamford We do not charge for any item until it is ready to ship. Backordered items are not charged until they are shipped. Goods paid for by credit/debit card cannot be sent to anyone other than the card holder. You can send your credit/debit card information to us with your on-line order using the card encryption facilty on this site. If you prefer not to do this you may alternatively send us your order (quoting reference numbers of all books required, please) and credit/debit card information by telephone (+1780 766266) or by post to the address given on our Contact page; We accept orders sent by e-mail but we do not recommend sending card details this way. We can also accept UK cheques payable to Robert Humm & Co, and of course cash if you call in person. Most of the stock listed on this site is available for examination in the shop but some smaller and more valuable items are kept elsewhere so a phone call in advance might be worthwhile if you plan to visit to view a particular item. |

Shipping And Handling
Post and packing charged at cost on all orders. Postage : The ordering system on this site is new to us and requires setting up and fine-tuning. To begin with the postage quoted will be calculated roughly and may be more expensive than necessary. If you wish to be sure you are getting the best postage quote for your order place it by phone or e-mail, rather than on-line. We expect to extend shipping to overseas customers in the near future. In the meantime - as always - overseas customers can order by phone or e-mail. Second class postage or Parcelforce are used for inland orders except where first class is the only option or only slightly more expensive. Parcels can be sent by first class post on request. Overseas orders are sent by surface mail, where this is available, unless airmail is requested. Note that surface mail may take up to 10 weeks to some countries. We recommend airmail for the more valuable packages. All orders sent at buyers' risk unless the appropriate insurance is requested and paid for. Contact us for details. Important note: The customary method of dispatch is by mail direct to the buyer. Any request to mail books to a third party (for example, as a gift or to a shipping agent for onward transmission) will be accepted only on condition that Robert Humm & Co will not be responsible for any loss or damage in any stage of transit, nor will be involved in any investigation into such loss or damage. Under no circumstances will goods paid for by credit card be mailed to any person other than the card holder. |

Delivery Schedule
We aim to send out most small orders within 48 hours and larger parcels within 7 days, but if your order coincides with the issue of one of our paper catalogues please allow up to 21 days. The above relates to inland orders. For overseas orders allow up to 10 weeks extra for surface mail and about a week extra for airmail. |

Credit Card Security
At the time an order is placed the credit card number is encrypted in the on-line sales software using 128 bit encryption. It is only decrypted after the order reaches our computer. Card details are not held in clear text on any web site, nor on any server or computer other than one sole machine of our own. Card details are retained for a short period after the transaction is completed, in case of queries; they are then deleted. |
